9. How to make a faux Polaroid greeting card

Today I have a triptych of greeting cards featuring a faux Polaroid on the cover. These were super easy to make.

First you may be wondering what the photos are of, well that's my confirmation back in 1983. I made these cards because my niece and nephew got confirmed this past weekend. I was lucky enough to get a new photo with the Bishop that confirmed them.

I think I will print out another copy of my confirmation day and the Bishop from then and the new one and use them in a journal page.

So now onto how I made the faux Polaroid. I sized the photo down to 3.5 inches and my photos from back then were already square but if you are working with a rectangle you will want to crop it to a square.

Then print it on photo paper and trim the top edge down to the same width as the sides and the bottom just a bit off to give it the Polaroid look.

I used modern gold photo corners to attach the faux Polaroid to the cover of the greeting card. I did this at an angle so it would look a bit casual like Polaroids tend to.

8. Cute little stamped girls with recycled bunny ears Easter Card

These little girl stamps from Judikins available through Stamp, Stamp, Stamp are just about my favorite rubber stamp right now. And what better way to embellish them at Easter than to give them bunny ears!
First I punched out bunny ears out of a recycled scrapbook paper catalog using a Martha Stewart punch. One of the great things about using a catalog is the scale of the prints on the paper is tiny which is perfect for little detail punches like the bunny ear one I was using.
Then I stamped a row of the cute little Judikins hug girls and then I used my favorite Bunny Hug for a little card.
Then all that was left to so was color them in old school style like we used to do with our coloring books and glue the punched ears on.

How to make a recycled calendar church sign quote and lighter label card. Bet you weren't expecting that combo!
But yes it's true. Today's card is made with a page from one of those page a day calendars that features church sign quotes and lighter labels I picked up at a thrift store in a bag of mixed stuff.
I trimmed the warning label info and the blank space of the sticker so that just the image was on the sticker and I trimmed the church quote down to the sign shape. The quote in case you can't read it says, " Nothing ruins the truth like stretching it". Then I played around with the layout of the two images so that the star print of the scrapbook paper was in a nice balance.

Today's card is made with a recycled Starbucks paper coffee cup and a piece of scrapbooking paper.
I had been saving this cup that has the quote on it, "On the battlefield of ideas, winning requires moving toward the sound of the guns." by Newt Gingrich.

It had been sitting on the shelf above my desk for quite sometime and I was doing a bit of cleaning this weekend. It seemed the perfect time to transform this cup into a card.
So I cut the cup down to just the area of the quote but still left the top rim of the cup. There was still a bit of curve the the cardboard and it still looked like a cup.

I went through the stash and found this cute piece of scrapbooking paper that had a hand pointing graphic on it.

All that was left to do was trim the paper into a card shape and pop the cup on using a few strips of foam tape to keep the curve dimensional.

3. How to make a recycled Bingo card hidden window card

Today's card is made with a recycled Bingo card and a vintage image of a lady smoking.
I thought the grid of the Bingo card lent itself to making them into little flaps that I could put images behind.
How I made the Bingo card flap opening is simply by cutting the two sides and bottom of one of the grids. I scored the top with the back of my knife and folded it up.Then I cut the photo out of the magazine and glued it to the back of the Bingo card. All that was left was to glue the Bingo card to the the front of a greeting card. As I type this I was just thinking I could have used a recycled greeting card that I didn't love the cover image since the Bingo card would likely cover the whole front. Hmmmmm, next time! Well I'm just going to pop this latest card in my Greeting Card Album for safe keeping.

2. Super Moon Greeting card made with two circle punches and One Up Me quote

With the amazing super moon shining in the night sky I thought I'd make a super moon card.
Now I know the Super Moon is a full moon but I thought it would be fun to make a partial moon. It was super easy.
I pulled out the circle punches and picked two similar in size. I punched the large circle out of some white glitter paper and then the slightly smaller circle off center.
The quote is from One Up Me:
" He's like an 800 number, you won't get a charge out of him."
which I wrote with a Pentel Slicci silver pen.

I am going to try to make a card every day. This goal is inspired by the blog 365 Make Something Every Day and book 365 A Daily Creative Journal.
Here is my first card:
Here is how I made my jackalope card.
I punched 2 bunnies with my Martha Stewart punch, one with holding the pink side of the paper up and one with the pink side of the paper down. This gave me a reverse image.
I punched the deers the same way with the Martha Stewart deer punch.
I then trimmed the antlers off the deers and glued them to the back of the bunnies, now I have jackalopes!
I cut a card with the front a bit shorter because I wanted to write my quote along the bottom.
The quote is from One Up Me and it says:
"She's like the iPhone, we talk but mostly she plays games with me."

I "heart" Valentine's Day Card Album

I whipped up this Card Album design using my Sizzix die cutter to cut a bunch of hearts out of some of my favorite fabrics.
I applied them onto the cover of the Card Album with Mod Podge.
Then a bit of sparkle was added with different colors of Plaid Folk Art Extreme Glitter painted over each heart. I know you can't see the sparkle in the photo, but trust me it is sparkle-tastic!

First I have to be a bit silly and share with you the picture my friend Maria took of me in front of the big schedule wall:

The ladies had a blast with all the fun tools and supplies decorating their Greeting Card Albums.
Here are a few quick photos while they were still works in progress:

The dear Sixxix die cut and The StazOn ink along used with the Judikins and Autumn Leaves stamps with some JHB buttons accents were a hit.
These two designers really liked the flower Sizzix die cuts and layered them up.

One used the Autumn Leaves print papers and one used the Club Scrap solid papers.

How to decorate your Greeting Card Album for Christmas and recycle a card from last year with a fabric die cut

Super Crafty Christmas Greeting Card Album with a recycled Christmas card craft.

I went at this with a "just play" attitude. I gathered up some of my favorite supplies and just started punching, stamping, gluing and glittering to decorate the Greeting Card Album and I also recycled a greeting card. I started by stamping all over the cover with some deer stamps, Some Stampology Clear stamps-Flourishes V.2 by Rhonna Farrar and used StazOn Ink.

One of the things I had in my stash was a bunch of slides that weren't good (the picture was too dark) and I wondered if you could punch them? Yup you can! I inked the edges a bit and glued it onto the cover of the Card Album.
I added touches of glitter by mixing a bit of Crafty Chica glitter with a bit of Judikins Diamond Glaze and applying it with a tooth pick.
To make my reindeer I die cut them from holiday prints of Autumn Leaves papers and simply glued them onto the cover all over.
To make the recycled embellished card I ironed some heat and bond to the back of some scrap plaid fabric and ran it through the Sizzix die cutter with my reindeer die. Then I simply ironed it onto the card, I used a press cloth and a tiny tipped iron.

How to display a necklace in a card:
Poke holes in the card with a small hole punch or a piercing tool.
Cut wire at about 3 inch lengths and bend it in half.
Link the wire through the chain of the necklace so that there is very little slack.
Poke the wire through the holes and bend open.
Slide the card into the elastic spine and you a ready to grab your Card Album to show off your work or have it be your "go to" spot for gift giving!

Bat Mitzvah Card Album

My niece just had her Bat Mitzvah and I thought she should have a place to store all her cards and memorabilia.

So I had my Mom send me some photos from the day and I went to town decorating and customizing the outside of The Card Album.

I cut up the invitation reusing it for the cover title.

So not only is The Card Album a great place to store cards, it can hold all sorts of things like the program from the event, the embossed napkins and things. The pocket in the back is perfect for little bits that don't have a fold that slides into the cord binding system.

My first Decorated Christmas Card Card Album for 2009 using the Cricut Die Cutter

I decorated my first Card Album for my 2009 Christmas cards!
I know your thinking a bit early? No never too early to craft for the holidays, they sneak up on you like you wouldn't believe!

It is really hard to shoot really shiny metallic hence the two shots.

I know it's hard to see but on the ribbon I die cut "2009 cards" out of shiny gold metallic sticky back vinyl on my Cricut die cutter. I wrapped my Card Album like a present. I put the bow on the spine so it would look pretty on the shelf amongst my books.

Card Albums are great for Blank cards on their way to awsome hand made creations

So Card Albums aren't just good for putting cards you have received they are great motivators and organizers of your handmade creations.

I filled a Card Album with blank cards that I simply made by folding 8 1/2 by 11 cardstock in half and slipping in the elastic binding system. I have made one card and plan to make 23 more before Christmas, it is about 23 weeks until then so I think I am in good shape!

This is the Judikins booth at this past weekend's Carson Rubber Stamp Show. As you can see I couldn't get very close because of the crowd watching all the cool techniques that Cherryl Greene was demonstrating!Not only was Cherryl teaching cool techniques, Judi, yes one in the same of Judikins was also sharing cool stuff you can do with all their great new products. One of which is the Card Album, as seen below. Not the best picture but hey it is such an exciting event, picture taking was a little crazed!

The Card Album decorated for a baby shower gift for Rock & Roll Mom to be

I have a baby shower coming up for a first time mom to be that's a bit on the rock and roll side and so I wanted to decorate The Card Album I was giving her to put all her baby shower cards in not too cute but still "baby boy" like. I went through the paper stash and found this cool black paper that was printed with the definition of baby all over it-perfect! Then onto the die cut stash and I thought the Hello Kitty tiny bunnies and the winged heart was a great combo of cute and tough.
So I simply went to town die cutting up a bunch of the cool papers. Then I just started to play around with all the shapes. Oh I should mention I inked the edges of my die cuts with silver, black and blue inks to outline them and make them pop a bit.

Here is my final The Card Album with a matching gift card that I used the same baby printed paper and die cut bunny.

I am really looking forward to this shower. I was put in charge of the memory game (30 or so items on a tray that everyone gets 2 minutes to look at, then it's taken away and then they have to write down everything that was on the tray), it was requested that it be all baby themed items so I am on a mission to gather up only baby items, not too easy of a task in a house that has never had a baby inside of it!
